That’s not the Art Gallery of NSW in the background. That is the ancient ruined wall of the Erechtheion on the Acropolis in Athens. Something wonderful happened for me when I finally got to fulfil a schoolboy dream of visiting this iconic destination.
I cropped the image tight because this is not meant to be a travelogue. It’s more about capturing a feeling. That smile is more than a teethy grin it’s the moment when you are saying on the inside “yes, I’ve done it”. That’s the same feeling I get when I design a concept that works, answering the clients brief and makes me proud.
I’ve been a graphic designer for more than thirty years. My career has been rich with experiences and diversity. I’ve worked on packaging designs for market leaders and implemented branding for an entire airline.

Something Wonderful
My challenge is always to bring visual form to that sentiment.
For each of us “something wonderful” conjures up thoughts of things powerful and charged with emotion. Something wonderful can be many things. Who hasn't experienced the resonating energy of a pearl of wisdom, an inspirational quote. The dazzling brilliance of a crystal chandelier sparkling with it's kalidescope of colours. It's hard not to be moved by music like the Flowers Duet from Lakmé or Pavarotti's “Nessun dorma”.
What I'm trying to demonstrate is that imagination when combined with creative energy can produce powerful results. That's why I love what I do. Directing my energies towards creating exciting visual communications is a great thrill.

The energy in Words
With the gems of wisdom on my site I'm not trying to be obtuse or philosophical, quite the opposite. These quotes resonate deeply within me. Whenever I read an inspiring quote and it affects me, I stop and ask myself is this connecting with me because it's a lesson I've learnt or is it more importantly, a lesson yet to be learnt.
Words have an energy, they form an integral part of what I do and that is communicate. What's your favourite quote? A memorable phrase that made you stop and think I knew that, I just couldn't say it that well. Well that's what I aim to do in a visual sense. Condense a thought, an idea, a concept, down into an encapsulated message.
Call it a badge, an icon, a symbol, a logo. That logo will form the basis of your advertising, branding, or packaging. Your visual badge says something unique and clear about who you are and what you do.
